this is my second video for ipad, on this one i’ll show you how to get GPS on ipad, what you need: 1- a jailbroken ipad/ipad2/ipod touch 2- tomtom bluetooth gps receiver mkii ( from ebay ) or any other bt receiver you prefer 3- BTstack GPS ( from cydia ) 4- navigation app ( navigon, tomtom or…….) how to start: turn on the gps receiver, start the btstack gps app and select your bt receiver, hit the home button, start your navigation app and you are on the go

Ipad 2 3g model has an autonomous gps chip! You dont need a cellular data or wifi!!!
iPads do not have deicated GPS chips. They use the cell towers and wifi data assistance to get an accurate location (Assisted GPS). GPS chips are far more accurate. A-GPS doesn’t give good speed readings either.
I;m thining about gettin an iPad 2. I know its the same as the older one, but just a couple new thigns. But SHould I get 3G or wifi? I just want to get it for the GPS (3G), but should i get it only for the gps? I might use the data later time, but right now i just wanted to use the tom tom app or another GPS app (without paying data)… What should i do? Or do you think i can use the ipad wifi as a gps thing?

@Walleby1 an ipod with a gps would most likely be an ipod with 3g, and that would be an iphone… (3g most likely come with a gps…)
@hiyoddo There is no SD or USB slot on the iPad, apple sells a “Camera Connection Kit” to enable this function via the 30-pin dock. I’m not familiar with Polish telecoms so I can’t help you there, but the iPad 3G is universal so it should work with the local 3G carriers.
does the ipad 2 have memory slot and the 3g will it work in poland – europ im moving there soon and how much will i have to pay for the 3g in poland or is it free ?
I hope the new iPod touch gets a gps version
@DetroitBORG Thanks for responding… They should have included A-GPS in the wifi model too.. But then again if they did then less people would buy the 3g model
@oliverumy You don’t need the SIM to use the GPS functionality. Only the 3G model has a GPS antenna so it’s much more accurate than WiFi.

what if I dont have a 3g sim will it still work more accurate than the wifi model ? Im asking because my country has very expensive 3g service.. 3 or 4 times more expensive than in the us

Do you happen to know if the GPS would still work in an airplane?
The GPS for iPhones don’t work well in airplanes, so I didn’t know if this would have the same problem.
