Question by David: Would the iPad release lower the price of the iPad Touch?

I want to get the iPod Touch 8GB 3g, its around 0 at Walmart and i don’t have a lot of money(hoping my mom would go 50 50 on it). And i was thinking would the iPad release lower the iPod touch at all?

Maybe ten bucks but i doubt it. Apple is not one that drops prices. I would suggest find a used one on amazon or craigslist.

Nothing looks impressive. Some have Win7 which a lot of people say is too slow for pads. Windows 7 actually runs very well on old hardware. It’s well documented that old XP machines actually perform better with Windows 7 in many cases.. Some have Android 2.2 which is lacking and not quite “there” for a pad. The problem is, there’s no true pad-OS out yet.

Everybody loves Apple, IPAD. Apple just beat everyone to the punch by rushing out a half-assed product with a dull feature set.

The question I am asking is, I like to watch TV/movies and media on my tv running from my PC which I use a IOGear 720p HD Wireless USB Video Card Kit. I can use it on my laptop as well but what I am looking for in the tablet system is a way to run a wireless video card system on it which would either have a built in future like some laptops have while hooking up the other hardware to the display(tv).

I also run a wireless HDD 1 TB drive.

So the system would be like this,

Instead of being in bed or on the couch with a laptop since it is bulky, even the netbooks. I would like a slim device like the tablets so I can pull up the wireless HDD where the media is stored, use a device like the http://www.everythingusb.com/iogear-wireless-usb-to-vga-kit-15278.html > As you can see the usb stick is very small and would work fine

and just click and transfer to the tv while having a very slim device while doing it, easy and very automated.

What pad would be the one I need to do this.
Aslo for sound, I would need something like the usb to vga to tv.

currently I use a Creative DTS-610 to a Yamaha AV Receiver to a 5.1 speaker setup so I can get the DTS link. Currently I just run a long stereo plug but as you see I am trying to create a more automated system using the pad so something to connect before the DTS-610, meaning something wireless.

I am also running a KVM switch, so if you can picture the setup, the tablet is acting as a walk around device which is slim and can control multiple devices and is the key to the automation I am trying to create.
l33t_hax.. – Very nice, I like this a lot and this might just be what I am looking for and yes, I would run Ubuntu Linux on this since it is being setup for media mainly and automation.

i have the ASUS T101MT, its a netbook but with a touch screen and folds down backwards in the “pad” shape with the screen up. its very sturdy and fast, with standard netbook specs (2gb of ram, 1.6ghz atom, 160GB). the little atoms does a really really good job. there farally new, most peeps on here woln’t have experience with them, just go looking some up and watching unboxing vids on youtube.

Personally I don’t like windows 7 on touch devices, its not made for it and isn’t as much fun as linux. I can customize so many things in linux, so even though out of the box it wasn’t any better for touch screens it pwns now. I have multitouch support for right clicks and zooming, i have scrolling like on an iphone (can’t get that in windows), i maximized screen space by getting rid of the equavalent of the start bar and replacing it with a small dock that overlays all the windows on the bottom right. it only has 3 buttons, internet, onscreen keyboard, and a button that opens expands into the rest of my programs and main menu. if i click in the very very right or left it pulls each window down into a little thumbnail on the screen and i can just click on the one i want, but open windows also show up in the dock. its awsome. I have a random wallpaper selected out of like 100 awsome ones I’ve collected every time i turn it on.
